Lazybones of Fallout modding are saying hello!

Fallout BGE team —Sun, 11/08/2009 - 18:43

Dear readers, fans and mutants,
BGE is gradually becoming an evergreen, as it's almost certainly not going to be released in 2009. The depth, originality and the amount of dialogs, pushed ahead at the very beginning by some jerk - let us call him me - straight away made this a long track to run, and until all these things are worked out and I'm satisfied, it most certainly won't be released. And just by the way, if you're interested in financing a capable and motivated team, definitely let me know. :-)

Since you're probably disappointed we've decided to traditionally (i.e. the easy way out) compensate by presenting some of our work. This time it's not necessarily something we're working on right now, but I guess that doesn't really matter:

Since the last update two new artists have joined us externally - draftsman MICHAL a.k.a. REVIVAL (Deviant Art/Human Art portfolio), and X'IL, who is helping with editing and creating animations of various creatures. On the other hand modeler RAMSES IV has left the team (we thank him for all the new game items).

We're still eager to find more and more handy artists, particularly animators and for the future purposes also volunteers able to work with cut-scenes. However all BGE's hiccups are nothing compared to the biggest, and by now traditional, problem, which is a lack of Czech and Slovakian programmers, who we are very willing to train. We do have four programmers working busily but unless we at least double this number and all these cries for help of mine won't be answered, we'll be seing updates beginning just like this one for quite some time. And then we'll start seeing BGE being used in lame geeky jokes in the same way as Duke Nukem Forever.

Oh well, see you under the Christmas tree.

Well, I'm here to thank you for making a mod to Fallout. Me and some friends really love this game, and we really like the mods (my english is not very good, as you can see :D ).

I really liked the art files (I downloaded all of them). Keep doing this great job! We really appreciate this.

Thank you again!

Renan,

This is actually pretty cool that some elements of our work gets through even to Brazil.

Have a funny "waiting time", and be patient,

P.S. how's about Brazil Fallout community? Is there something stable? Or even any skilled artists to join our team? :-)

I've recently started

I've recently started looking into modding the old Fallout games (I got into them after playing FO3 and started playing them between classes, and I've got to say, I'm somewhat amazed at all the international love for the games (and their mods). Just wanted to say that it's great what you're doing (even if it takes a long time). I'd love to help, but I'm no artist, and a novice (if adept), programmer, though I'm American and not Czech or Slovakian.

Let me tell you something,

Let me tell you something, yeah

I won't be original if I say that Fallout is my favorite game and I always dreamed about some sequel with a new plot, but any ambitious projects started by fallout fans, died one by one long before release. It was not a great surpise for me that people working just for enthusiasm were not able do to it long enough. I know how hard and routine can game development be since I am a professional game developer in fact. However it's my job and I get money for it, while you do it just for fun. It makes me appreciate your efforts much higher. I doubt I could do the same.

So I have no idea whether you will ever manage to release your game or not, but I like your site, like your screenshots and your sense of humor and I want to thank you anyway.Keep trying guys, keep trying...

Sorry for my English. My first language is still Russian :)

Thanks for your words, guys.

We "hire" English speaking artists and mappers only, as mentioned somewhere here, for case someone would be interested. Programmers, writers - too hard to handle, not effective.

Have a great Christmas.

Fallout: Between Good & Evil is a freely distributed modification using Fallout 2 engine.

The mod is being developed since 2005 and it aims to offer experience which Bethesda's Fallout 3 can't or doesn't want to provide: prequel of events on the West Coast of US, very complex dialogues / quests and turn-based combat in 2D isometric view. Currently, more than twenty people actively prepare the game with the release date Christmas 2011. Our work should bring you back memories of Fallout, Fallout 2 PC games and will have many references to Van Buren and the Cold War.

Fallout: Between Good & Evil will come in English and Czech version – and if fans help – in many other languages.
